Riding Lessons
Lesson Prices – $30.00 Prepaid $35.00 Payment on the Day
Times - 3.30 pm — 5.30 pm Weekdays
9 am — 11 am and 3 pm —5pm Weekends
( availability of these times may vary due to weather and demand)
Private Lessons: One on one lessons, private group lessons, or lessons
out of our normal lesson times are available at $50.00 per person.
The lessons which consist of 2-8 students are held in a full sized, rubber chip surface, arena.
Each session is 2 hours long, one hour riding time and half an hour either side is spent catching your pony, grooming, saddling him up, covers on or off, and putting him away at the end of the lesson.

We cater for 7 year olds to Adult learners, or those returning to riding and wanting a refresher, confidence boost to get back in the saddle again.
During the lessons the students are taught the basics of riding, going over grids, trotting poles and small jumps. In time their confidence and ability improves so they can progress to small jump courses.

We have advanced lessons on a Friday after School where the advanced riders can do more challenging jump courses.
We put on an annual summer BBQ down the Tuki Tuki river for those attending the riding school where they can have an opportunity to swim with the horses.
As an added bonus, people who attend the riding school become entitled to a 40% discount on any of our Horse Treks after every 4th lesson. See 'Trekking Page' for available Treks

Cancellations: Please be aware there is a minimum 4 Hour Cancellation on lesson booked. You will be given your instructors cell phone number to text her directly or phone the zoo (06 8750244) and there is also a answer phone.
If you book a horse for a lesson we cannot book it out to anyone else so unless 4 hours notice is given you will be charged. The Hawkes Bay Farmyard Zoo reserves the right to cancel lessons due to extreme weather or any other unforeseen circumstances.
